LOVE YOU TO THE MOON & BACK
If you have ever seen a Boho Meets tropical and organic then you know the three themes when combined can result in a stunning design. Today’s wedding is different, in fact, it is done so well that we can almost guarantee you are going to love it just as much as we did.
Danielle & Matt personal story
I and Matt were first introduced to each other in 2009 by mine sister who had gone to school with Matt.
At the time, Matt had moved to my city of Seattle and i became his first tour guide. Over the course of a few dinners and movies to help Matt acclimate to his new home, we are immediately connected over a love of music and French film.
It was fairly evident that we were actually dating. Fate, however, had other things in mind: timing felt off, the two parted ways, and Matt moved back to his home state of Indiana taking two of my DVDs with him.
We never lost touch though, and with texts, calls, and emails we remained connected across long distances through the years. I frequently asked for my missing DVDs, as one does. On a couple of occasions WE had made plans to meet up and never ended up following through. Timing again, had other plans.
In the winter of 2017 Matt sent me a digital gift card to replace my missing DVDs . With shiny new streaming options and not-so-subtly added that he was in town visiting family. Finally we met up once more and reconnected immediately.
This time the fates gave us both bright green lights, Matt moved out to Seattle 6 months later and we began thinking of their future together. In the fall of 2019 we decided to elope and booked two tickets to Greece to get married in April 2020.
Fate once more stepped in and said “hold my drink” as borders shut due to the global pandemic. Our plans for Greece were rescheduled twice and finally canceled, so we waited and waited.
After waiting for so long to reach this moment in our journey together, they even debated for the better part of 2020 if we should simply go to their local city hall and tie the knot.
In early 2021 we left the moody beauty of the Pacific Northwest and moved south to sunny Santa Barbara to ride out the rest of the pandemic. Finally one beautiful day in late spring, as the world was starting to open back up. We decided to once more book the trip to Greece to get married. On September 28, 2021 we married on Sarakiniko beach on Milos Island in the Cyclades.
Advice for brides planning now
Follow your instincts. While it’s impossible to pull all the worry and stress out of this special day, at the end of it all this is about your commitment and love for your partner. Remember to take time and have special moments for each other on this day. Yes, everyone is there to see you but it is not selfish to reserve space for you and your partner.
Location and venue details why you choose
Danielle had traveled to Greece once before and completely fell in love with the country’s people, food, and beauty. Since both of us love to travel, eloping in Greece was a dream come true. Traveling to the island of Milos was a perfect choice . Since neither of us had been before and the experience could be shared for the first time. As a photographer, i always been drawn to dramatic landscapes and while researching locations i came across images of Sarakiniko Beach. The otherworldly quality of the rocky beach formations make it feel as though they were on the moon!
